TVCC Laptop Loaner Agreement

Trinity Valley Community College is pleased to offer laptop computers for use by TVCC students in exchange for the terms and conditions set forth below. These laptops are configured to provide student borrowers with the same functionality as other TVCC student computers. For example, students may use these laptops to search the internet, type papers, create presentations and Excel charts. Students must save all documents/projects to external device; laptops are automatically ERASED at each reboot, shut down, and restart.

In order to loan a laptop, I understand and agree that I must do each of the following:

• Read, sign, and fully comply with the TVCC Laptop Loaner Agreement.
• Properly use and safely return the laptop computer and/or all peripheral devices.
• Immediately report hardware issues to the IT Service Desk - tvcc@service-now.com so that technical support may be arranged or a replacement device provided (if available

I further agree to the following as to the use of TVCC Laptop Computers:

• I will use and protect the computer and devices as if they are my own.
• The devices and associated peripherals will be returned timely to the Learning Resource Center (LRC) from which the devices were borrowed.
  • Should all the borrowed items not be returned fees may be assessed, as described below, and a hold may be placed on my TVCC student account until such fees are paid in full.
• I will not leave devices unattended at any time.
  • Devices that are found unattended will be returned to the respective LRC and the incident will be noted. If this occurs, this Agreement will be terminated automatically and student will lose borrowing privileges.
• I will adhere to and fully comply with TVCC's IT Policies and Guidelines and all other applicable TVCC policies, State or Federal Laws related to computer operations and Internet use.
• I will independently utilize the installed applications on the laptop computer; and seek TVCC IT personnel for hardware support.
• I am liable and solely responsible for the full replacement cost of any device and/or any associated peripheral device, if it is not timely returned, damaged, lost, stolen, or made inoperable in any way while in my possession.
• I understand and acknowledge that TVCC assumes no responsibility or liability resulting from the use of this device and shall in no way be liable for same. By signing below, I waive and release TVCC for any and all liability, causes of action, claims or damages of any kind of type whatsoever related to the use of any computers and/or computer equipment, or this Agreement.

Check-Out:

• I must present a valid current TVCC student ID and driver's license at the LRC as part of the check- out process. I understand I must be 18 years or older to sign this Agreement. If I am not 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign this Agreement.
  • Only one laptop computer and one Mifi hotspot may be borrowed during any given period.
    • Loan duration is limited to one full semester or until the end of the semester,
• Availability is on a first come, first served basis. Laptop reservations are not accepted and laptops are not guaranteed.

Check-In:

• I will safely return the borrowed devices to the LRC from which the items were borrowed on or before the end of the Loan Duration period listed below.
• If borrowed items are not timely returned, or are returned inoperable, I will immediately pay for the damages or replacement costs, lose borrowing privileges, and may have a hold placed on my TVCC account.
• TVCC LRC staff will check to confirm that the laptop and peripheral devices are returned intact; this will take approximately 5- 10 minutes.
  • I will plan accordingly for this process on or before the end of the Loan Duration date, and I will consult IT if advised by LRC staff should the hardware or devices be in question.

Payment Method to Cover Non-Returned, Lost, Damaged, or Stolen Property

• By signing below, I consent to having the repairs or replacement cost charged to my TVCC account if the devices are not timely returned, lost, stolen, or damaged. By completing the TVCC Loaner Laptop Agreement and taking possession of the devices, I am hereby consenting to having any charges related to this Agreement applied to my student account if the borrowed devices are not timely returned in their original condition. I may also have the option of authorizing TVCC to charge the cost of the non-returned, lost, damaged, or stolen laptop and/or other related devices to your financial aid.
• By signing below, I authorize TVCC to apply my financial aid to this charge. I understand and agree that if financial aid cannot be used to cover the repairs or replacement charge for any reason (e.g., financial aid already refunded, financial aid inadequate to cover the charge, etc, I am solely and completely responsible for the replacement cost of the non-returned, lost, damaged, or stolen devices. I understand and agree that a hold will be placed on my records which will, in turn, prohibit registration and the ordering of transcripts.
• By signing below, I understand and agree that I am liable for all such costs and charges if financial and cannot be used. Further, I understand and agree that I am liable for TVCC attorneys' fees and costs if TVCC is required to file suit related to these charges/costs.
• By signing below, I represent that I am 18 years or older, and I understand and agree to all of the terms and conditions herein. If the student is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign below and must guarantee all payment obligations hereunder.
